Structure-based audio fingerprinting for music retrieval

چکیده
Content-based approaches to music retrieval are of great relevance as they do not require any kind of manually generated annotations. In this paper, we introduce the concept of structure fingerprints, which are compact descriptors of the musical structure of an audio recording. Given a recorded music performance, structure fingerprints facilitate the retrieval of other performances sharing the same underlying structure. Avoiding any explicit determination of musical structure, our fingerprints can be thought of a probability density function derived from a self-similarity matrix. We show that the proposed fingerprints can be compared using simple Euclidean distances without using any kind of complex warping operations required in previous approaches. Experiments on a collection of Chopin Mazurkas reveal that structure fingerprints facilitate robust and efficient content-based music retrieval. Furthermore, we give a musically informed discussion that also deepens the understanding of the popular Mazurka dataset. Frequency Filtering for a Highly Robust Audio Fingerprinting Scheme in a Real-Noise Environment
The noise robustness of an audio fingerprinting system is one of the most important issues in music information retrieval by the content-based audio identification technique. In a real environment, sound recordings are commonly distorted by channel and background noise. Recently, Philips published a robust and efficient audio fingerprinting system for audio identification. To extract a robust a...
متن کاملA Review of Audio Fingerprinting
An audio fingerprint is a compact content-based signature that summarizes an audio recording. Audio Fingerprinting technologies have attracted attention since they allow the identification of audio independently of its format and without the need of meta-data or watermark embedding. Other uses of fingerprinting include: integrity verification, watermark support and content-based audio retrieval...
متن کاملA Study on Music Retrieval based on Audio Fingerprinting
For an efficient and accurate music retrieval system, a huge search space has to be explored, because a query audio clip can start at any position of any music in the database, and also a query is often corrupted by significant noise and distortion. Audio fingerprinting has recently attracted much attention in music information retrieval, which provides a compact representation of the perceptua...
